Long term investment is what’s needed. It is costing more than it needs to doing giving money in this way.
]]>This shows, if we did need more to know that this government does not care or hasn’t a clue how to care, perhaps both and more.
If the government is serious about increasing pay for care workers then this is more nearer to what is required as stated ‘Care England chief executive Martin Green said the £570m for the workforce fund was equivalent to a 10p per hour pay rise for each of the sector’s 1.5m staff, whom he claimed needed a £4 per hour boost.’ With any increase in pay rates the required funding has to be available every year moving forward for pay rates have to be continually improved on a by-year basis.
However, while urgently required increasing the pay rate is just one of many areas that need to be covered. There is the full recognition of holidays for care workers including that of Bank Holidays, a funded staff sick pay arrangement, much improved working conditions and proper Contracts of Employment, and much more.
So, any of the funding promised by this government is but a mere drop in the ocean of what is really required. To not provide all of the required funding and ensure the funding continues each and every year social care will continue to decline and so will the NHS for both have to work in tandem together, for one can’t exist without the other.
If social care is allowed to decline then the NHS will surely follow. So, we need a government that is serious about listening and then taking the required appropriate actions immediately, can I see one coming, well not currently, so we are all heading for disaster.
